Terms of renting a car - FAQ
Answer:
At Taggart Car Rental, both individuals and companies can rent a car. The driver must have a valid ID (passport or national ID) and a driving licence that is valid in the EU. If required, you must also present an International Driving Permit.Answer:
No, there are no age restrictions. As long as you have held a valid driving licence for at least two years and you are active driver, you can rent a car.Answer:
The rental price includes the selected vehicle in excellent technical condition and fully compliant with EU legal requirements, an unlimited number of drivers, full insurance coverage in the Czech Republic and the EU, ACT mobility support across the EU, prepaid roadside assistance from the insurance company, warranty servicing and seasonal tyre changes, and a Czech motorway vignette. In short, you only need to refuel the car and top up the windscreen washer fluid if needed.Answer:
The average age of our entire fleet is currently 11 months. 95% of our cars are up to 2 years old, covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, and maintained in excellent technical condition. You will receive a clean car with a full tank, and our vehicles have no stickers or branding that would identify them as a rental.Answer:
You can book a car by calling +420 775 592 097, by emailing info@taggart.cz, or by using the quick booking form in the vehicle description on our website.Answer:
You need a valid ID (passport) and a driving licence, you pay the rental price, and you leave a refundable security deposit. The deposit is returned immediately when you bring the car back, provided the vehicle is returned in the agreed condition.Answer:
Yes, we can deliver and hand over a car on weekends and public holidays. Deliveries and pick-ups outside our standard working hours are subject to an additional fee; you can always see the exact price for extra services in the car profile or in your booking summary.Answer:
The deposit depends on the vehicle category and typically ranges from CZK 15,000 for lower and middle-class cars up to CZK 50,000 for selected luxury vehicles.Answer:
You can pay the rental price and the refundable deposit in cash (CZK, EUR, or USD), by credit card (please let us know in advance so we can bring a payment terminal), or by bank transfer (the funds must be credited to our account before the rental starts). We always return the deposit using the same method you used to pay it: for cash payments, the deposit is returned immediately when you return the car in the agreed condition and in the same currency; for bank transfers, we return it to your account within 5 business days after the vehicle is returned in good order. For card payments, we release the deposit immediately after the return, but the actual unblocking time depends on your bank and the card network—typically up to 3 business days, and in some cases it can take longer (up to 30 days) under your bank’s conditions, which we cannot influence. If you want the fastest possible return, we recommend paying the deposit in cash or by bank transfer.Answer:
Can I travel abroad from the Czech Republic and what are the conditions? Yes, you can travel across the European Union, including Switzerland, Monaco, and Great Britain, with the only exceptions being Bulgaria, Romania and Greece, where travel is not permitted; travel outside the EU is not allowed. The conditions abroad are the same as for rentals in the Czech Republic, with one exception for short-term rentals: if your rental is shorter than 6 days, the “unlimited kilometres” tariff changes to a daily limit of 300 km, while rentals of 6 days or longer include unlimited kilometres.Answer:
At Taggart Car Rental, one rental day is always a 24-hour period from the time of pick-up, for example if you collect the car on Monday at 12:00, the rental day ends on Tuesday at 12:00. We allow a 1-hour return tolerance; if you return the car more than 1 hour late, an additional full day will be charged. A rental month is calculated as 30 days from the pick-up date.Answer:
You can pay with Visa and MasterCard cards, both credit and debit. The refundable deposit is usually taken as a pre-authorisation (a block) on your card and we release it as soon as you return the car; however, the time it takes for the funds to become available again can range from a few minutes to several days depending on your bank, which we cannot influence.Answer:
No. You only pay the refundable deposit and the first month of the rental at the start. At the end of each following rental month, we will email you an invoice, which you can pay either in cash or by bank transfer—whichever is more convenient for you.Answer:
No. Our cars and licence plates are not labelled in any way, so there is nothing on the vehicle’s appearance that would indicate it is a rental.Answer:
Yes, you can, but most banks do not allow a pre-authorisation (block) on virtual or mobile-wallet cards, so the deposit is usually processed as a card charge and your bank may add an extra fee of approximately 2.5–3% depending on its conditions. If you want the deposit to be blocked (pre-authorised) rather than charged, please bring your physical card; pre-authorisation is available only for rentals shorter than 15 days.Answer:
Yes you can, but unfortunately the banks do not allow to block that money and they will take it as a charge, which means they will put or take additional charge 2,5%-3% for this payment. If you want only to block the payment, then please make sure you have your physical card with you. Blockation only works for rents less than 15 days.
